MSJC/Grand opening of new college building set for September/PE
August 10th, 2012FYI
“Join MSJC as it celebrates the grand opening of its new Humanities and Social Sciences building on the Menifee Valley Campus on September 14.”
“The Humanities and Social Sciences Building on the Menifee Valley Camps is 100 percent state funded. The project came in on-time and under budget.”
Blog:
MSJC qualifies for state funded capital construction projects due to its low participation rate (students per population). Hundreds of class sections have been cut due to state budget reductions, however, the district is set to serve thousands more students with this additional building and will receive a bump in state operational funds according to the new enrollment space this building provides. Student population figures should drive district planning for future campus sites, not politics.
The district needs to continue to qualify for state funding rather than ask taxpayers for a local bond.
