MURRIETA: Education Center to expand slightly/NCTimes

“The Murrieta Education Center Planning Commission agreed Wednesday to allow developer A.G.Kading to expand the site for the education center on Monroe Avenue by 33,000 square feet.”
“The $50 million education center is on schedule for a 2011 completion. City leaders envision the center as a satellite campus for community colleges, universities and other institutions of higher education.”
Blog:
Is this Trustee Sparkmans’ end run to prevent the development of a Wildomar Campus Center? Leased space does not qualify for additional growth funds or operational revenues, making all FTES served in leased facilities subsidized by existing state approved campus/centers.
The MSJC BOT has had NO discussions on this project. Is it secret?

Note: Trustee Sparkman along with former MSJC consultant, Dr. Michael Maas, of Maas Companies; Richard Giese, former MSJC President; and Dr. David Long, Secretary of Education, State of California are project “Advisory Board Members”.
Sparkman may have a conflict. Who’s interest does she represent?

“Sparkman may have a conflict. Who’s interest does she represent?”
Certainly not the colleges or that of voters, taxpayers, students or staff.
After reviewing the BOT agenda for the next meeting I noticed that on page 51 CSEA has asked for a substantial pay raise for Mark Medina (Corporal) and included many other costly incentives.
I wonder how CSEA justifies these contractual demands. I realize they have a duty to request the best possible incentives, benefits and salary for their members but with all of the issues surrounding the PD and the economy are these demands realistic?
Keeping in mind that Mark Medina has been a sexual deviant (2 extra marital affairs and 1 case of sexual harassment on a CSO) while employed as a police officer at the college, and the undeniable fact that he was caught lying under oath, I don’t see how his lies, deceit and unethical behavior warrants a pay raise.
The PD is the LAST place to invest more money. 2 officers and a temp chief remain. The 2 officers have both lied, cheated, violated district policy, etc. what a waste.
Let’s see how the BOT votes on this one. My money says Sparkman will blindly vote to approve.
There is little doubt that Sparkman is complicit in all that has occurred within the college PD. Keeping this in mind, there is little, if any, doubt that she will reward the “lying” and philandering Medina for keeping his mouth shut during the DA’s investigation. It’s called politics- that’s life! To bad for Segawa that he had to take the fall- they all had a pretty good scam going (at least until some honorable officers came forward).
Honor and Integrity are only hallowed words that politicians use to garner support- they have no meaning anymore. When one considers Sparkman’s age and the generation she grew up in, it might be reasonable to assume she was taught to do what is right. Clearly, she lost her way somewhere along the line.
