“The board announced Segawa’s resignation after a closed session during its regular meeting. The college district will pay him his accrued vacation and other paid leave in the amount of $35,029.”
Blog:
One year ago this month, fired probationary police officers spoke before the MSJC BOT with perceived concerns of illegal actions by this police chief. Administration assured the BOT that an internal investigation had begun and findings would be forthcoming. However, no internal investigation was ever released to the BOT. These same officers claim no named witnesses were ever interviewed by MSJC. Not until the DA’s involvement became known in July 2009 did the district place Segawa on administrative leave.
With the PC’s resignation and the DA’s recent filing of eight felony counts against him, it is time for the district to do the right thing in regard to these former police officers by clearing any false information placed in their personal files by Segawa and/or the district’s HR officer that would prevent them from attaining gainful future employment. Will they?

No. Human Resources never does the right thing solely for the purpose of doing the right thing. If, by chance, they do something positive it’s only because the special and important ones had something to gain by it.
