Riverside County Sheriff bucks cuts, raises pay/PE

“Days after Sheriff Stanley Sniff told Riverside County supervisors he could not afford any cuts to his department without taking deputies from street and jails, he raised the six-figure salary of one chief deputy by 19 percent, another by 11 percent and a third by almost 6 percent.”
“The raises followed on the heels of a county resolution to cut benefits to managers, including chief deputies, and potentially cut compensation by 10 percent as a show of faith to get unions to agree to similar cuts.”

The Sheriff ignored the county resolution. Isn’t that insubordination? Another example of arrogant abuse by administrators using administrative authority counter to interests of the taxpayer and oversight authority…the supervisors. Amazing.
This is one of the reasons the state has the fiscal problems it has.
