Vote no on props 1A, 1B/Clariononline/Citrus College Student Paper
May 12th, 2009“Sacramento needs to get its act together and figure out how to better handle its money and take care of its citizens. Taxes should not be the first resort lawmakers run toward.”
Blog: Think about this and vote NO.
“If, since 1990, state spending increases had been held to the inflation rate plus population growth, the state would have a $15 billion surplus instead of a $42 billion budget deficit. Since 1990, state employees have increased by more than a third, since Schwarzenegger, per capita government spending, adjusted for inflation, has increased nearly 20 percent.” George Will, Washington Post http://www.news-press.com/article/20090503/OPINION/90502021/1015

You cannot borrow yourself out of debt. Since when does too much debt mean more borrowing? It hasn’t worked yet. Why must we follow a failed strategy, again? Just watch, when the propositions fail those slimey legislators will blame the people.
Ann, with the amount of financial concerns that are before us, I feel it is important to state the obvious about the money MSJC continues to waste.
1. The MSJCPD is a $1,000,000 waste of resources.
2. The pending lawsuits will cost thousands in attorney’s fees.
3. There is the potential for extremely large settlements.
The current staff includes:
Chief of Police under investigation
Corporal under investigation
1 Officer implicated in many complaints and investigations
2 Admin.
2 Dispatchers This is a shocker! Who or what are they dispatching for?
With the pending lawsuits we can only imagine what the PD has cost above and beyond their budget. Sadly, this all could have been avoided if only someone would have listened to the many complaints that were registered early on.
Ann, as a concerned taxpaying citizen, I wonder what those engaged in civil suits are asking for? Would you be willing to inquire, and then post, their respective requests?
I would like to know if they are asking for millions or merely justice.
If you combined and adopted every cut and tax increase proposed over the past budget cycle it would not fix the State budget deficit. The wheels are about to come off state and local governments.
While (as you say) “the wheels are about to come off” [referring to CA], the “driver” of the MSJC [Admin and the BOT] have no drivers license!
As a community WE SHOULD BE MORE CONCERNED with our situation on the local front, which we can and should control, rather than complain about problems that WE ALL contributed to when we elected said officials and voted in favor of relevant legislation (i.e. more home ownership) that has contributed to the blatant disregard for the tenence of the US Constitution.
“We the People” were given the power to govern at the local level and should do so as the Founding Fathers established. These are the basic principles of that glorious document…the United States Constitution. However, we have allowed the government (like the BOT – a quasi government) to USURP CONTROL over us and make decisions (and legislation) that is self serving.
In the case of the BOT, using an array of tactics and subterfuge, they have perpetuated a clear and wanton disregard for the law, public safety, education and the ideals of justice, honesty and integrity when they failed to act appropriately (and with reasonable expediency) in the serious matter of Corporal Mark Medina and Kevin Segawa involving corruption and other immoral matters.
To Ann and We Have A Problem: if you (or anyone) are serious about change don’t just sit on the sideline- AS MANY DO! Do something about it! Ann, WHAT ARE YOU DOING about the information (FACTUAL INFO) provided to you by the above Blogger, informed on May 13th, 2009 at 8:00 pm? More to the topic of this blog- Have you contacted your Congressman or Senator? Do you even know who these individuals are?
If you believe in corrective action (as I do) or in having a voice/will to RIGHT what you believe is WRONG, then do something- –like all 4 of the former officers who were wrongfully (and illegally ) terminated by Kevin Segawa and the BOT!
TALK IS CHEAP! Put your money where your mouth is!
