“”The college has had a partnership with Redding police since July 2004. The school pays $160,000 annually for the service. Through the partnership, one officer is assigned specifically to the college to aid security there. The officer, while not always on campus checks in daily with the school and is the responding officer when the college needs a police presence.”

This arrangement makes much better financial sense than a $1,000,000 annual expenditure for PD at MSJC. MSJC should explore this same concept to reduce costs for public safety. Such savings could provide continued student access without cuts to class sections during the states current fiscal crisis.
