Officials deem campus lockdowns ineffective in crisis/Daily Cardinal

FYI
“Universities nationwide say the Columbine shooting created the lockdown concept, which is not possible on larger, multi-building campuses. For universities with multiple buildings and thousand of students, the idea of a lockdown has never translated well, safety experts on campus say.”
“Even if you lock the doors, it doesn’t prevent them from being opened from the inside.” “People can still leave.”
“If it happens to be an intruder you want to keep out, that can be good. On the other hand, if it happens that students are trying to seek shelter and are stuck outside, that’s not a good thing.”
“There is no possible way that we could be sure that nobody comes in or goes out of the campus at any time.”

Riverside County Sheriff officers were on campus when college Police Chief responded asap from his location at/near the Menifee Campus and proceeded to place the campus under “lockdown”.

Ann, what else would you expect from a “Chief” with a high school education and no extensive, formal emergency management training?
What about the two police officers you currently have working with a total combined experience of 10 months TOTAL between the TWO OF THEM! How confident can the District be in their police department. Disgraceful really.
I dont know what happened to the pd. A short time ago I saw them all over the place. Working in the careteria, I loved seeing them around. Whare did they all go?
I dont know where they all went, but if it has anything to do with all the hoopla being posted on Menifee Live . com I wouldnt be surprised if some of them got fired. Too bad. Who suffers are the students.
