MSJC BP 7610/College Police - Approved/Revised by BOT 9/13/07
“The Board has established a police department under the supervision of one Chief(s) of Police, who shall report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer. The department(s) shall have jurisdiction to enforce the law on or near the campus(es) and other grounds or properties owned, operated, controlled or administered by the District.”
Blog:
Both Ed Code and board policy state the intent/purpose of an established cc police department. How one interprets “near the campus(es)” determines whether the PD covers a few blocks “nearby the campus(es)” as the law reads or the sphere of Menifee which is over broad in interpretation of the code. The Board of Trustees have not addressed the issue in any policy discussion. They should.

Enforce the law near the campus? The MSJC PD, according to the Press Enterprise, was involved in a drug bust in Corona, outside the college district.
