Improved relations at Palomar may ease accreditation process/NCTimes
April 4th, 2008FYI
“Officials at Palomar College said they are hopeful that some of the instructors who resigned from the college’s accreditation team may return now that the faculty union and district have reached a tentative labor agreement.”
“District officials linked the faculty walk-off in part to stalled labor negotiations, but the instructors said they were tired of making suggestions only to be ignored. Their primary complaint has to do with the percentage of full-time professors to part-timers, which dropped from 59 percent in 2001 to 52 percent this year. Educators recommended hiring more full-time professors, but the district has not heeded that advice.”

MSJC is ranked last and lowest in the state among California community colleges for full-time/part-time faculty percent.
