“Cal State San Marcos is looking to partner with communities and the businesses to offset state budget cuts.” Matt Ceppi, Chief of staff to the president
“Naggar and Washington believe once the university is in town, it will be that much easier for the non-profit foundation to raise money for a permanent campus.”

The perfect location for CSUSM is the former APU building on the Menifee Valley Campus. MSJC owns the unoccupied building and if occupied by San Marcos would not require retrofit for Field Act. This is a perfect “partner” most effective for students and the beginnings of a real Educational Center at the Menifee Campus. The problem……it would not be in “Temecula” and the “Educational Center” is all about Temecula politics even with our own trustee.

As the District expands in Temecula at a cost of $1M a year what is the plan for the paid for, 11 empty classrooms at the Menifee Campus? Is the plan a secret in this underserved high growth District? This is the Higher Education Center anchored by MSJC. There is room for CSUSM,UCR and a private college who will pay all the operating costs for everybody. The District had years to figure this one out, but it’s still not to late. START NOW.
