Editorial: Races are on in the San Gorgonio Pass Area/Record Gazette
August 17th, 2007http://www.recordgazette.net/articles/2007/08/16/opinion/01opinion.txt
This opinion editorial posted today yesterday in the Record Gazette. It references the college board election in the Pass area and speaks to the need for a local bond measure to fund a campus in that area of the district.
“The only source for the money is, as usual, the residents of this area who will be asked to approve a bond measure next year for the project.”
“An earlier bond measure that included the entire college district and not just the one that serves the Pass Area went down, big time, so this next effort is expected to focus on those in the Pass Area, the ones who will most benefit from having a college campus here.”
“If the voters have confidence in those who will be spending their hard-earned money, they are far more likely to turn that money over to the trustees and administrators who will be spending it for them.”
Blog:
The article assumes a bond measure in 2008 for this unapproved site. The board has yet to review results of the 2006 effort or have had discussion concerning 2008. Kadow, makes a determination, speaking for the board on a matter that has not been discussed.
The unapproved site is adjacent to Kadow’s residential community and is within 600-700ft from his own residence. The 2003 purchase was recommended through the Richard Giese administration by Maas Companies, who Kadow and Giese have both previously been employed. The “soft costs” on the massive 06 bond, were 320 million dollars of the 720 million bond, nearly 50%, with Maas Companies as “district representative” for the building projects.
Conclusion: Kadow wants taxpayers to improve land at their expense and adjacent to his community. The consultants benefiting will be “Friends of Kadow”. Taxpayers, watch your wallets.
Check out pics of the site posted earlier on this blog. It will take millions of extra taxpayer dollars to mitigate the flood/gas line issues on that site, and cannot mitigate the access over rail tracks and a site without freeway visibility. If built, without state approvals, the site will not qualify for state enrollment funding or state funded capital construction projects. Does Kadow care?
